RCA Certification via E-Learning


Learners receive 14-hours of instruction. This blended e-learning solution uses an exciting combination of facilitated learning, and live interaction with our Just Culture Company Advisor team to enable learners to work in a collegial environment to become certified in RCA.

Course objectives:


As a result of active participation in the RCA course, participants will be able to:


  1. List key attributes, benefits and limitations of Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
  2. Distinguish between direct cause, probabilistic cause and conditional information within the process of developing cause-and-effect representations
  3. Identify and sequence the 5 elements of a threshold (event) investigation
  4. Utilize the 10-step investigation process to enhance the quality of RCA output
  5. Identify factors that shape human performance
  6. Identify factors that influence system design
  7. Competently assess the spectrum of the Just Culture Company 5-behaviors model within an investigatory framework
  8. Describe the appropriate organizational response(s) for each intention/behavior
  9. Develop effective causal narrative utilizing the 5 rules of causation
  10. Distinguish between effective and ineffective investigation interview techniques
  11. Describe how individual performance and system design contribute to outcomes and the managers’ role in improving each
  12. Using case scenarios, apply knowledge of human cognition, the 5-behavioral spectrum of human intention/behaviors, and the findings from a threshold investigation to determine the appropriate managerial/organizational response to mitigate risk
